How do I know it’s time for a new furnace?
Nobody replaces a furnace for fun. But there’s a point where repairing the old one stops making sense:
- It’s 15–20+ years old and the repairs keep coming
- The latest fix is a big-ticket part like a heat exchanger or blower motor
- Your winter gas bills keep climbing while the house never quite feels warm
- Some rooms roast while others stay cold
- It struggles to keep up on the single-digit nights Missouri throws at us
If you’re not sure which side of the line you’re on, start with a furnace repair visit. We’ll diagnose it honestly, and if a repair gets you a few more good winters, that’s what we’ll recommend.
What’s included in a furnace installation?
This is a process, not a drop-off. Here’s how we run it:
- In-home evaluation. We look at your existing equipment, ductwork, venting, and gas line, and we size the new unit to your actual home — square footage, insulation, windows, layout.
- Options, not pressure. You’ll see good-better-best choices with the total price for each. You pick; we don’t upsell.
- Install day. We remove and dispose of the old furnace, set the new one, connect gas, electric, venting, and condensate, and seal the duct connections.
- Testing and walkthrough. We fire the system, verify safe combustion and airflow, check for gas and carbon monoxide issues, and show you how everything works before we go.
Not sure what equipment fits your situation? Our furnaces page walks through gas versus electric, efficiency ratings, and the brands we install. Homes without gas service or with unique layouts might be better served by a heat pump — we’ll tell you if that’s you.
What affects the cost of a new furnace?
Rather than throw out numbers that won’t match your house, here’s what actually drives the quote:
- Efficiency rating. Higher-efficiency furnaces cost more upfront and less to run every winter after.
- Size and staging. Larger homes need more capacity; two-stage and variable-speed models cost more than single-stage.
- Ductwork and venting condition. If the existing ducts leak or the venting doesn’t meet code, fixing that is part of doing the job right.
- Scope. Furnace-only versus a full system with a new coil or air conditioner.
Financing is available, and right now a full system install includes a free one-year Budget Savings Club membership — details on our promotions page.
Why have Budget install your furnace?
Because a furnace only performs as well as its installation. An oversized unit slapped in over a weekend will short cycle its way to an early grave, no matter what brand name is on it. Our installers are licensed, insured, and local — the same family-owned crew that’s been doing this since 2009. You approve the price before we start, and we stand behind the work afterward. Pair the new system with annual heating maintenance and it’ll hit its full lifespan.
What happens after the install?
We don’t disappear when the truck pulls away. Register your equipment, keep up with yearly tune-ups, and call us if anything ever sounds off — priority scheduling comes with that first-year Savings Club membership. Furnace Installation FAQs
How long does a furnace installation take?
Most residential installs are done in a single day. Jobs that involve ductwork changes, venting updates, or pairing with a new AC can run longer — we'll tell you before we start.
How do you know what size furnace my home needs?
We measure, not guess. Sizing accounts for your home's square footage, insulation, windows, and layout. An oversized furnace short cycles and wears out early; an undersized one runs constantly and still falls behind.
Can I finance a new furnace?
Yes, financing options are available so a failed furnace in January doesn't have to wreck your budget. Ask us when we quote your install, or see our financing page.
Do I get anything extra with a full system install?
Right now, a full system install comes with a free one-year Budget Savings Club membership — waived dispatch fees, priority scheduling, and repair discounts for your first year.
Will you haul away my old furnace?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old equipment is part of the job. We leave the mechanical room cleaner than we found it.
Should I replace my AC at the same time as my furnace?
Not always, but if both are near the end of their lifespan, replacing them together often saves labor and gets you matched equipment. We'll give you numbers both ways so you can decide.
