Marthasville anchors the quiet southern corner of Warren County, down Highway 47 where the Katy Trail follows the Missouri River past vineyards and bottomland farms. Budget Heating, Cooling & Plumbing covers it — the whole stretch, from town lots to acreage properties up in the hills.

This is one of the oldest settled areas in the state; Daniel Boone’s original gravesite sits just outside town. The housing reflects that history. Around Marthasville we work on genuine farmhouses with generations of add-ons and patched plumbing, alongside newer homes built by people who came for the views and stayed. Old or new, most sit on private wells and septic, and a lot of them run on electric heat since natural gas lines never made it out this far. That rural setup doesn’t faze us — it’s a big share of what we do in Warren County.

Does anyone actually service HVAC out in wine country?

We do, on a regular schedule, not as a favor. The drive from our St. Peters shop is real, but Marthasville shares routes with Warrenton and the rest of Warren County, so same-day service is usually on the table. Country properties bring country problems: hard well water scaling up fixtures, which makes water softeners close to standard equipment out here, and aging heating systems that owners have nursed along for decades. When yours finally needs more than nursing, furnace repair is the call — and if replacement is the smarter money, we’ll say so and price furnace installation upfront.

Cooling has its own farmhouse problem: a lot of these places were built long before central air was standard, and window units in every room aren’t anyone’s idea of comfortable. Where running new ductwork through original plaster and joists isn’t practical, a ductless mini-split can cool a converted attic, an addition, or a whole upper floor without tearing the house apart to do it.

One more Marthasville note: this is bottomland along the Missouri River, and a basement or crawl space here can go from dry to wet fast during a heavy spring rise. A working sump pump matters more out here than it does on higher ground, and we outfit ours with battery backups since a storm that floods a basement is often the same storm that knocks the power out.
